Our corporate heroes

Our work would not be possible without the support of our corporate supporters who help us to do more and aim higher. We are actively seeking to form new partnerships with businesses and organisations to help us to impact more childrens' lives. Could your team be the ones to help us reach more children in sub-Saharan Africa? Find out more here.

The Liberty Global connection

Lessons for Life was established in 2007 by the late Shane O'Neill, Chief Strategy Officer for our founding corporate partner, Liberty Global. During his travels in Africa, Shane met children from disadvantaged backgrounds, many of whom had been forced to become full-time carers for younger siblings and seriously ill family members. Shane’s vision was to improve the circumstances of these vulnerable children through education.

Nearly ten years on, Liberty Global remains our founding corporate partner and continues to champion our work. In fact, it’s thanks to their ongoing support that the bulk of the money we raise can go directly to the programmes and partners we support.

Going further

In Kenya, 36% of rural public schools do not have access to at least one functioning latrine. While sending kids to school is at the heart of what we do, it’s vital we do everything we can to make sure they learn lessons for life once they are at school. In 2008, Lessons for Life supported its first project in Kenya, reaching 85 students in partnership with a local NGO.

The charity has since expanded its support to different countries across Africa and now focuses on working with partners in four key countries: South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Read more about our work, or follow us on Twitter and Facebook for an insight into our partners’ activities.
