The annual Lessons for Life Football Tournament

8th June 2018

This year Lessons for Life's held their second annual Football Tournament  at London's Play Football, Shepherd's Bush. It was an excellent opportunity to gather our friends and supporters with 24 teams taking part from Liberty Global and the banking, accountancy and legal sectors.

After our CEO Prescott Price kicked off the evening with a welcome speech, over 160 brave souls took to the pitches to play to support Lessons for Life.

All teams played well. The night ended after some impressive (and not so impressive) scores, followed by a presentation and speech by Liberty Global's Matt Read.

Freshfields took the 2018 title in style. Their tight-knit team put on a great display of talent throughout the evening and beat runners up RBS in the final battle of the night. Congratulations Freshfields! Latham & Watkins were worthy winners of the Tournament Plate beating Liberty Global!

A big well done and thank you to our winners and for everyone else who took part. The night was a great success with and we raised over £20,000! Your support really makes a difference in giving children in Africa access to a quality education.

This year, we are asking all our supporters ‘What does education mean to you in one word?' and as you can see our teams at the Tournament came up with some great examples. We have been running our #educationmeans digital campaign since the start of the year as we asked children, teachers and our partners in Africa the same question. You can watch a short video from Kinuuka Primary School in Uganda where some children explain what education means to them and learn how you can get involved here.
