The Big Ride for Africa 2019
In June 2019, 500 runners and riders cycled over a collective 100,000km across Germany and Denver for Lessons for Life. Avid cyclists and runners in Europe spent over 7,000 hours in the wind, rain and shine over two days on routes ranging from easy to moderate to challenging routes. Some even swapped the saddle on day two to complete a full or half marathon.
The Big Ride for Africa 2019 set up basecamp on the northern edge of the beautiful Eifel National Park, a low mountain range in Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, which extends into Belgium and Luxembourg. To see pictures of the event go here.
Our friends in Denver took to the mountains at the same time as our European colleagues. Our riders rode and ran out of the city centre continuing up to Golden Lookout Mountain and they crossed the finish line at the famous triangle building. Well done to our Big Ride Denver heroes!
The Big Ride wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic support from our Big Ride sponsors. A huge thanks to Accenture, Afiniti, BNP Paribas, Ciena, Deloitte, Scotiabank and many others and finally our host country sponsor Unitymedia. You all went the extra mile.
Thanks to the support of all our riders and runners the Big Ride for Africa raised over €1 million to help support our work across Africa.
