Our corporate supporters
Lessons for Life Foundation works closely with a large and diverse number of corporate supporters, and we have particularly strong links to our founding corporate partner Liberty Global. Our partnerships cover organisations in many different sectors, including law, consultancy, banking, media and programming. One of the main ways our corporate friends support us is by taking part in Lessons for Life events.
Participation in the Big Ride and the Gala Dinner is phenomenal and growing every year. We had a great range of sponsors at The Big Ride for Africa in 2018 who literally went the extra mile in creating an even better Big Ride.
It's not just events that our sponsors get involved in, they have offered pro bono support, given us access to their corporate foundations and CSR programs, run employee engagements events and even nominated us for charity of the year.
What is really exciting is not only the long term and continued support, but also the number of new corporates who are committing their time, energy and skills to our cause. If you would like to discuss how you can get involved, please contact our Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships Tim Sumpter.
Lessons for Life is excited to announce the launch of a new corporate partnership with Teleplan, world leaders in the lifecycle care of electronics.
Teleplan’s donation of €20,000 will support the life changing work of Lessons for Life across Africa. Children are at the heart of what we do. The core of Lessons for Life's funding is spent on directly supporting the education of underprivileged and vulnerable children. We support them with the cost of school fees, uniforms, books, stationary and hygiene kits.
In 2018 Lessons for Life became the offical charity partner of the Partnership Awards. Partnerships Awards is the largest event recognising and rewarding the best in PPP. This long running annual event welcomes over 650 people annually to celebrate the industry’s achievements over the past year.
It was a fantastic opportunity for us as we joined some of the biggest names in PPP at Thursday 10th May at Hilton Park Lane in London and were able to raise over £10,000 to support our work in Africa. We are excited to now be joining the P3 awards in October in New York.
ShortsTV has been a supporter of Lessons for Life since joining the Big Ride for Africa in 2015. Since then, the relationship has developed into a very special one. As well as the team joining us as our special guests at The Tower of London for the Gala Dinner, 2017 saw:
• ShortsTV’s Head of Production, Stephanie Charmail and Producer, Maxwell Creed spend 10 days in rural Uganda capturing stories from children Lessons for Life supports via our partner Child Aid Uganda (CHAU).
• A five strong Shorts TV team led by President of EMEA, Jesse Bergsma took to the roads and trails to run, walk and ride for Lessons for Life at the Big Ride for Africa. They also brought the world’s smallest cinema - Cinema Piccolo - to basecamp to screen an award-winning short movie.
Deloitte’s generous contribution to Lessons for Life has grown year on year. Last year at the Big Ride they not only fielded a team of 15 riders but also provided a stand out sponsorship package themed around the well-being of our riders. Olympic and World Champion cyclist Nicole Cooke (who works at Deloitte) also took to the tarmac, and in the evening gave an engaging talk about her experience as a competitive cyclist. Deloitte also joined us again at the Gala Dinner and discussions are ongoing into new ways we might work together.
Our Big Ride Corporate Sponsors
A wealth of support
We have received fantastic support from a whole range of businesses including Goldman Sachs, Scotiabank, Deloitte, Cartesian, Accenture, and Shorts to name but a few. Law firms have provided us with fundraising and expertise, such as Shearman & Sterling offering their valued help through pro-bono legal work. Programmers have also helped us, putting energy and creativity into their support.
Moreover, we have been introduced to corporate foundations who share our values and are keen to work on new initiatives with us. In Ireland, Brian O’Neill and Friends First continue to support us and are real ambassadors for Lessons for Life. They have also acted as a corporate reference for the charity, helping us to gain support from new organisations.
Since we started in 2008 we have reached over 85,000 children, family and community members, and this would not have been possible without all the fantastic support we have received from our sponsors. If your company would like to get involved please contact our Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships Tim Sumpter.
